Reflection On Olympic Wheel Day
Reflection Olympic Wheel Day
· Something I was pleased with was how well TUI worked as a team and tried their very best, because it was my first real House competition being a house leader.
· I really enjoyed learning how the seniors and the middle school work in different ways to try and get a placing, because now I know for further house comps what I am going into.
· Something I found hard was trying to get my team to listen to my instructions and having to talk over the wind.
· Something that made me think was will TUI try their very best and get us a good placing, because I knew that TUI team 1 & 2 TUI team that I was working with were doing well, but were the other TUI teams doing well with the Sport pals.
· Something I want to get better at is communicating to the rest of the team a little better.
(What can I do about it?) Talk to them in a type of way that they understand more:)

Reflection On Optimist Yachting
Reflection For Optimist Yachting!
·Something I was pleased with was making Hannah and Courtney laugh while yachting, because it was there first time so it made us all more confident.
·Something I was pleased with was making Hannah and Courtney laugh while yachting, because it was there first time so it made us all more confident.
· I really enjoyed learning how to control an optimist yacht when the wind is blowing at a reasonable speed, because last year we didn’t have as much wind as this year.
· Something I found hard was fighting the wind when we were kayaking, because it was very windy and I got stuck on a rock twice going under the bridge.
· Something that made me think was are the year 5’s enjoying their first time going optimist yachting, because it seemed to me that they were enjoying it, but were they?
· Something I want to get better at is control the kayak more when it is windy, so I don’t bash into anything or get stuck in the current.
What can I do about it? I can paddle harder so that there would be more power to keep the kayak on track.

Magpie Cluster Expo!
On Thursday the 6th of September all of the Digi Kidz from Parkvale School and other Schools went to the Havelock North Community center and participated in a digital expo, sharing how our school uses ICT in there learning. Also Hannah, Joshua and me and three others from room 19 got to go and share something about ICT in our school as well as all the others. Above is Our Presentation on a day in a 1:1 digital classroom. I hope that you will enjoy it seeing as we did it right in the middle of production week, so we were really tired. When all the visitors had left and the teachers and parents came, us three decided to sit down and chill. One reason why is because we had our last night of production the same night!
Reflection for the Expo
· Something I was pleased with was having at least an audience to listen to what a day in a 1:1 Digital class is like, because it is nice to see how many people would like to know about what we do.
· I really enjoyed learning other stuff about how other Hastings schools use ICT in their learning, because it made me want to try some of their apps and tools at home on the computer, Ipad and Ipod.
· Something I found hard was talking over everyone else at the expo, because it was very loud, so loud that I almost lost my voice!
· Something that made me think was what are audience thinking about our presentation and maybe they were thinking of telling their principal about digital classes in their school, because I thought that our presentation was spectacular.

Reflection on learning in room 20
I am halfway through my awesome year of learning in Room 20. How am I learning?
Some things that are different about this year are I have learnt how to do splitting in maths for timesing by big numbers.
Having a computer and Google account has helped me by finding out what different learning tools you can use for school work. Also having a google account is handy for emailing the teacher when you need some help on some work.
I like having a blog because I can share my learning with the world and get some lovely positive comments from my friends and family, even people from around the world like Paul Jennings. It makes me feel proud when I get a comment from my mum and dad.
I share my learning by either sharing a document with my Learning-Buddy or over my blog. I can also tell my Learning Buddy what I have done for any subject and ask if they need any help.
I help others by giving them some of my great words for writing or sharing my writing or giving them a comment on their doc.
I use ICT to help my learning in these ways, playing around on movie maker and experimenting.
I get feedback for my learning from Mr.M ( Teacher ) and My learning Buddy. They give me feedback by saying that it was well described, great verb and even more. This makes me know that I should keep up the great work in all of my other docs. It makes me feel proud of myself.
Things I am really proud of achieving in Room 20 are having a blog that I can share my work with the world and being awarded the following badges: Young Leader, House Leader and Academic Achiever. I am proud of myself for achieving those badges.

- Maths: maths has helped me in a lot of different ways, E.G. I have improved on my times tables ( I am a lot faster at them ) I have learnt how to do a ‘ Beans Recipe. ‘
- Reading: I have done a debate on Deer. I have had the chance to do a K.W.L Chart on Extraterrestrial. I have learnt how to do a literacy circle seeing as I have not done one before.
- Writing: writing in room 20 is fun and enjoyable. I like that we get a writing choice every few days. I have improved on writing since last year. Last year I was a bit slow with my writing doing it by hand, but I have got better this year because I am a fast typer so I am quicker.
- Art: I love art and I have been able to do a good amount that is fun, I am proud of my art so far.
- Movie Maker: I love experimenting on movie maker, I have done a heap of cool videos.

My Reflection For Term 2
Reading
My favourite in Reading has been having the chance to be in a literary circle and reading Kensuke’s Kingdom and making a timeline on all of my assignments. ( Here's a link that you can visit )
Something I have learnt is that with all the different types of books that we have read, I like to read fiction books with adventure in it . I also like non Fiction Stories, because it is cool to hear a true stories.
My next step is to get up to the stage of reading bigger books, eg Twilight.
Writing
My favourite writing so which is ‘My ending for licked’ (Here is a link that you can check out.)
I am proud of my ending for licked because I got a comment from Paul Jennings, plus I won the competition in the class. I feel as though the writing is funny and it made the class laugh. I also spoke really clear when it came to reading it to the class and being filmed.
I have learnt to:
- Put a Proper sentence together
- Not to make your sentence too long and complicated
My next step is to write longer pieces of writing.
I like my blog because I know that my family and friends can see what I am up to throughout the year.
My favourite post is my ending for licked because it is my top post and I am very proud of all the positive comments I have had. (Here is a link that you can check out)
I like commenting on blogs because it is a way that people know how popular their post is.
My favourite comment is on my blog that I did a reply to from Mr.G.
Maths
My favourite maths activity is decimals. Here is a link to a decimal game that you can play. (Here's the game)
I am proud of my times tables with a double number and a single number, eg 54 x 7. Here’s an image of how you can work this out.
(Here's a link that you can check out)
I have learnt: Check this link out
- How to do a beans recipe
- And how the places of a decimal work
Something I find challenging is the how many part of the maths knowledge level 6.
My next step is to be able to complete that part of the test.
Art
This is my favourite art was my pride art, because it was really fun to do. (Here's a link that you can check out.)
Topic
Something I have liked in our topic learning is how much rubbish we waste a day. Also how to look after a worm farm correctly. (Check this link out)
P.E. / Fitness
What I like about this is that it gets the class exercised and it is always fun to take us out for a game. My favourite fitness game is BLOB. (Check this link out)
I like playing these games:
- Line tag
- Blob
- Corner ball
- Soccer
I learn and develop the skills of catching and throwing, by playing these games.
Fitness helps my throwing and catching better by playing the following games,
- Corner ball
- Netball
- The skittle game
Choir / Kapa Haka
I am in Kapa Haka and Choir and it is really cool.
In Kapa Haka we learn some really cool songs.
In Choir I am in both Choirs and also in the harmony which is awesome.
I really enjoy Kapa Haka and Choir which is on each Tuesday.
It is awesome.

My Corner Ball Reflection
WALT throw, catch and move without the ball
· Something I was pleased with was getting some of the other team out because they were quite fast and the ball was not aloud to touch the ground.
I really enjoyed learning how to play the game because I had never played it before.
Something I found hard was aiming at the other team to get them out.
· Something that made me think was who is closer to me so I can throw the ball at them or to them because it would make it easier than throwing far away and then the ball might touch the ground and it will be the other teams ball.
Something I want to get better at is my aiming
(What can I do about it?) I can practise at home or at lunchtimes.

· Something I was pleased with was that I learnt some more strategies for solving multiplication problem because I only knew a few.
· I really enjoyed learning the Algorithm strategy because it was quick and easy for the problem we had.
· Something I found hard was thinking of another strategy to go with the Q.
· Something that made me think was the rounding strategy because I had to remember to add something back on.
· Something I want to get better at is knowing more strategies.
(What can I do about it?) ask some other people if they know any strategies that could come in handy for multiplication.

Archery and shooting reflection
Reflection for archery and shooting
· Something I was pleased with was archery and shooting, because I am a bit scared of shooting targets but I accomplished it.
· I really enjoyed learning when the bow and arrows were first made and what they are made of, because I did not know how they were made and how they what year they were found.
· Something I found hard was having to keep the bow inline with my eye and make sure I had the white feather facing up.
· Something that made me think was keeping my eye on the target for shooting, because I kept trying to get the cans beside it and around it.
· Something I want to get better at is being able to get a BULLSEYE.
What I can do to achieve this, I need to focus on what I am shooting at.
