Reflection on learning in room 20

I am halfway through my awesome year of learning in Room 20. How am I learning?

Some things that are different about this year are I have learnt how to do splitting in maths for timesing by big numbers.

Having a computer and Google account has helped me by finding out what different learning tools you can use for school work. Also having a google account is handy for emailing the teacher when you need some help on some work.

I like having a blog because I can share my learning with the world and get some lovely positive comments from my friends and family, even people from around the world like Paul Jennings. It makes me feel proud when I get a comment from my mum and dad.

I share my learning by either sharing a document with my Learning-Buddy or over my blog. I can also tell my Learning Buddy what I have done for any subject and ask if they need any help.

I help others by giving them some of my great words for writing or sharing my writing or giving them a comment on their doc.

I use ICT to help my learning in these ways, playing around on movie maker and experimenting.

I get feedback for my learning from Mr.M ( Teacher ) and My learning Buddy. They give me feedback by saying that it was well described, great verb and even more. This makes me know that I should keep up the great work in all of my other docs. It makes me feel proud of myself.

Things I am really proud of achieving in Room 20 are having a blog that I can share my work with the world and being awarded the following badges: Young Leader, House Leader and Academic Achiever. I am proud of myself for achieving those badges.

  • Maths: maths has helped me in a lot of different ways, E.G. I have improved on my times tables ( I am a lot faster at them ) I have learnt how to do a ‘ Beans Recipe. ‘

  • Reading: I have done a debate on Deer. I have had the chance to do a K.W.L Chart on Extraterrestrial. I have learnt how to do a literacy circle seeing as I have not done one before.

  • Writing: writing in room 20 is fun and enjoyable. I like that we get a writing choice every few days. I have improved on writing since last year. Last year I was a bit slow with my writing doing it by hand, but I have got better this year because I am a fast typer so I am quicker.

  • Art: I love art and I have been able to do a good amount that is fun, I am proud of my art so far.
    • Movie Maker: I love experimenting on movie maker, I have done a heap of cool videos.

MY NEWS REPORT ON THE 2012 OPENING CEREMONY:)
Hello I am Felicity Johnstone and I am your Kiwi Kids news Reporter. Today I am here to report to you guys about the spectacular Opening Ceremony.

To start the night off we had a performance showing what the olden days were like in London. After a nice start of lovely families, it all turns into work, work and even more work. With all of the men hard at work and the ladies washing the clothes.

Then The queen strides in very poshley with James Bond following, they both take their seat and watch the performances. Then there was a fabulous range of countries children in choir singing in a magnificent tune. After that spectacular display there was a big group of glowing lights come into the center and make a smiley face. It ended up being there were a whole lot of hospital beds in the center of the stadium, with a different range of ages and sizes of children.

With the idea from J.K. Rowling, her characters came alive, there was Voldemort from Harry Potter, the evil lady from 101 Dalmatians. Then with a great big BANG, fireworks boomed in every different direction. Everyone around me were blown away in their own dreams. When I look around me all I can see is ‘ FLASH, FLASH’ and even more FLASHES. Their eyes looked like they were sparking wildly in excitement, with all of the fireworks reflecting onto their eyes.

Then there was a hilarious performance from Mr.Bean, he had a dream that he one a beach run. Trust me I don’t think that would ever happen in real life. Now would you look at that here come the Torch Bearers who will light the 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES CAULDRON. As they run around the track and pass the TORCH to each other. Here they come all ready to light the amazing OLYMPIC CAULDRON.

The the crowd all say ”Wow,” they are now lighting the Cauldron. As soon as it gets lit the whole place feels like we have just been hit with a bomb. All you can hear is cheering, the flashing of the cameras. The cauldrons fire was outstanding, it was so hot, I would have to say that I was sweating from up here. Once again I look around me and see the fire in the cauldron reflecting in their glazed eyes.
Then the Queen takes a stand and speaks to the people of the world, “ I declare the 2012 Olympic Games are now open “
The crowd stands and cheers their loudest.

My favourite part would have to be the lighting of the cauldron.

The funniest part was when Mr.Bean’s spectacular performance.

Inferring-Rock And A Hard Place!

THE END: When I wake up in the morning, I realise he has.

I inferred that he chose to support both teams ( All Blacks & Springboks ), Fletcher ( cat ) kind of made him understand the meaning of ‘ A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE ’. From his colours, from the saying that you don’t have to choose between being ginger and being white.

I also inferred that if there was a 2nd version of that book ( A rock and a hard place ) it would be about the boy and him cheering for the 2 teams in the Rugby World Cup 2012.

THE START: “ It seems to me that you are stuck between a rock and a hard place,” says my rugby coach.

I inferred that his coach was trying to get him to support his new country, ( NZ ).

His coach is using a saying to get him cheer for NZ in the Rugby World Cup. Also I inferred that his coach was trying to get him to support his new country, ( NZ ).

I know that he was using a saying to make it a little more fun and maybe tricky to understand what it means and it can also be when someone is stuck with something. It is called a lose-lose situation.

That his pet cat made him choose what team to go for and that he didn’t have to think really hard to try and choose what team to cheer for.
